Video conferencing has changed political communication

Video conferencing has taken on new roles as more industries have found new uses for the interactive technology. Usually, video conferencing and online meetings were only thought of in terms of business-to-business relations, but the equipment has also been widely used in political interactions.

In the past, countries' leaders would go great distances to meet with one another in order to maintain a positive public image. Today, however, presidents and government officials are skipping the travel and conversing through video conferencing equipment. This allows them to save money as well as to hold more discussions throughout the day.

In 2009, President Obama made history by becoming the first president to hold a question and answer seminar via video conferencing. In 2011, Obama has continued to use the service, utilizing it's seamless video capabilities while discussing current events with the President of the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, Hamid Karzai.

Companies such as VIA3 Corporation, have changed the way that many companies communicate. The technology has greatly connected our world's leaders and now offers the opportunity for increased communication between officials in pressure situations.
