Video conferencing expanding education for Chicago high school students

Students at the Walter Payton Preparatory High School in Chicago, Illinois, have been traveling all over the world to explore new resources and topics via video conferencing services and student exchanges. The school has taken a global approach to prepare its students for a future in an interconnected, tech-savvy world.

Ellen Estrada, the leadership coach for Chicago Public Schools, said the school understands and appreciates the importance of students being exposed to global perspectives, and developing cultural competencies on a variety of issues and events. Schools can provide these experiences and lessons without transporting students all over the world, using video conferencing technology. Without ever leaving the classroom, students can interact with peers and teachers abroad, developing a multicultural learning environment.

Students at Belarus universities in Gomel, Vitebsk, Grodno and Brest will also be able to experience new learning opportunities thanks to video conferencing technology. The recently opened Belarusian-Indian educational center will enable individuals to receive expert training in the field of mobile programming and collaboration applications, including video conferencing and unified communications.  The school will use video conferencing services to connect to resources and faculty in other locations.
