Video conferencing market expected to grow in 2012

Video conferencing services and solutions are becoming more mainstream, as organizations, enterprises and small businesses are reporting high return on investment in the advanced communication technology. Applications and tools are now customizable, enabling companies to tailor their video conferencing solutions to meet their needs without over-spending on new infrastructure or too many options.

Fierce Enterprise Communications reported that vendors are focusing on offering interoperability features that allow companies to launch video conferencing services from multiple devices to save money and improve productivity and collaboration. Large and small companies are using video conferencing tools to better leverage business assets in a real-time and cooperative environment. Schools are using the tools to enhance their learning opportunities and cross geographic barriers.

For example, the Institute of Management Technology's Centre for Distance Learning in Ghaziabad, India, recently deployed video conferencing services throughout its campus, connecting students to faculty, other students and resources from all over the world. The school is offering distance learning programs in fields such as marketing, human resources and communication. The facilities remove any physical or geographical restraints to receiving an education, and enable faculty to pull from a variety of digital libraries and resources.
